Really listen.
Lay down all the little hairs
prickling up the back of your neck,
screaming they have a solution.
Breathe deep.
Lock eyes.
Still your fingers
clenching into fists, tapping on the table,
waiting for their turn to gesture.
Focus.
Press lips closed.
Rest the foot
that’s raising and lowering your knee,
tapping the rhythm of the rushed into floorboards.
Stay attentive.
Nod your head.
Just listen.
Listen.
Love the sense of hairs prickling on the back of my neck. Great phrasing.
